The things that I have learned through college and among other studies I’ve done tell me that life is short. I just won’t be making any ongoing comics about it. This doesn’t mean I will completely stop making Skylanders stuff. My marketing classes that I’m taking sorta made me think this way. Well, now it’s time for me to create and establish my own franchise. It also shows how powerful an established franchise can bring. This immediately tells me what my primary target market is. Before I even started this comic I had only 11 watchers. I first started these Skylanders comics back in May 2012. These Skylanders, in my opinion didn’t have any concrete personalities so I’m happy to give them believable ones. Judging by all the positive feedback I received about how well I portray certain character’s personalities, encouraged me to create my own characters. If I do start more Skylanders, it would just be small comic strips. I am a fan of Skylanders, however it is time to do other things. Looking back at my Skylanders comics, I realized there are a lot of things unanswered, but I need to start doing and creating my own things, rather than creating nothing but fan art. Did You Know?Īuthentic E3 2011 Spyro, Grill Grunt, and Trigger Happy figures can’t be used with the regular Skylanders games because they had a special chip that only worked with the E3 demo portals. And that's it for these Skylanders comics. Terrafin is met with an offer he couldn't refuse. Of course, this hasn’t stopped people from trying to sell their opened Series 1 Spyro, Gill Grunt, and Trigger Happy as the E3 exclusives. This makes the E3 2011 Spyro, Gill Grunt, and Trigger Happy figures the rarest Skylanders of all time.Įach figure came in its own pack with a special sticker that said “Bring Me to Life at E3.” The actual Spyro, Gill Grunt, and Trigger Happy figures were identical to those released to the public later in the year, so only unsealed figures are valuable. While official numbers were never released, those who attended the E3 2011 and received the figures estimate that there were about 600 or less figures given out. To drum up interest for a new reboot of the Spyro the Dragon franchise, in 2011, ahead of that year’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) event, Activision sent out the very first Skylanders figures – Spyro, Gill Grunt, and Trigger Happy – to journalists and media personalities that would be in attendance. Initially, Activision and Frito-Lay did not promote the Flocked Stump Smash sweepstakes and fans only noticed the promotion on specially marked variety packs of Frito-Lay chips.Ĭurrent Price: $50 to $500 (Spyro) no Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy current listed However, with only a limited number of the figures available, Flocked Stump Smash has since become rare. At one point, after Activision shared their promotion on the brand’s Facebook page, everyone who called into the numbers was told they won the Flocked Stump Smash. To win a Flocked Stump Smash, people had to call into one of two 800 numbers and if they would either instantly win the Flocked Stump Smash or random Skylanders figure. According to the official rules of the Frito-Lay promotion, there were about 7,334 Flocked Stump Smash figures up for grabs, while there were 11,000 random Skylanders figures available. In April 2012, Activision and Frito-Lay ran an exclusive Skylander promotion for a chance to win a limited edition Flocked Stump Smash or a random Skylanders figure.
